1. Water: keeping the kids hydrated is of utmost importance. In spite of having high-end Water purifiers, traditional methods of boiling and cooling water never go wrong. Children are susceptible to water-borne diseases, gastroenteritis, common cold, viral fever – these are just a few - which enter their bodies with the arrival of monsoons.
2. Home Made Food: Encourage children to eat homemade food as much as possible. Khichdi in its different forms and names as a common dish eaten all over India. Warm khichdi with a dollop of butter or ghee is a source of strength and aroma.
3. Leafy Green: The abundance of leafy greens in monsoon and with all the uncountable benefits of leafy greens which needs a lot of care while cleaning and in the preparation. Leafy Greens must be soaked in water to which vinegar and salt advice says the Dietitian Sheela Seharawat.
4. Fruits and Vegetables: Incorporate a lot of fresh vegetables to the diet. Vegetables are rich in vitamin c help in building immunity to fight the diseases. Fruits and vegetables also need to be washed thoroughly before consumption. Cut fruits must be avoided at all cost. Seasonal vegetables in a form of fries or boiled or chat made in an interesting way will have children for craving more.
5. Warm broth: Kids Diet must have High protein content as it is for sustained energy release in growing kids. A warm broth made of rice, dal, and vegetables will not only provide the much needed high protein, and also the other nutrients.
