Oats flakes upma, a new variation of a regular upma by using oats instead of semolina. 
Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Makes 2 servings

Ingredients
150 gms quick cooking rolled oats
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 red chilli
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
1 tsp chopped green chillies
300 gms water
salt to taste

For The Garnish
3 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)

For The Serving

Method 
1.    Dry roast the oats in a pan for 1-2 minutes. Remove from flame and keep aside. 
2.    Heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, asafoetida and dried red chilli, mix well and saute till the dal change the colour. 
3.    Add the onions, ginger and green chillies, mix well till the onions turn tranculant. 
4.    Add the water, salt and oats, mix well and cook till water is completely absorbed and oats are thoroughly cooked. 
5.    Garnish with coriander and serve hot with coconut chutney.
